Tanzania has set goals for increasing the number of tourists as well as ensuring that tourism contributes to poverty reduction at the local community level. Therefore, the tourism policy promotes the development of new tourism products including promoting community-based tourism. There are various ways for local communities to achieve economic benefits from wildlife. WMAs are designed so as to enable the communities to get rights over wildlife utilization. Wildlife could play a critical role in poverty reduction and local economic growth in communities with tangible resources on village lands.
It is necessary to integrate wildlife into local livelihoods in order to provide the benefits from resources to the community.
